BEL deputy managing director Mottakin Salam explained that the crane weighs a total of 2,700 tonnes, with its heaviest component weighing in at 110 tonnes.
"It can be easily transported from one place to another and requires 125 trailers by road, 10 barges by river or a chartered breakbulk vessel with a 200-tonne derrick capacity," said Salam.
He added that the crane is being financed by one international bank and three local Bangladeshi banks.
BEL is a member of the Project Cargo Network (PCN) in Bangladesh.
